LtCol Holland is a native of Texas where he attended Trinity Valley School through graduation in the Spring of 2002. He completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas between 2003 and 2007 and was selected for commissioning in the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Course. After accepting a commission as a Second Lieutenant in December 2007, he attended The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia in April of 2008. After designation as an Artillery Officer, he attended the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader’s Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in December of 2008.
2ndLt Holland reported to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in June of 2009. After training as a Forward Observer, he attached to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment and deployed to Nawa District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in November of 2009. While deployed, 2ndLt Holland participated in Operation Moshtarak in support of the clearing of Marjah by Regimental Combat Team 7. He served in many billets, to include Company Information Operations Officer, Commanders Emergency Relief Payment Officer, Fire Support Team Vehicle Commander and Company Watch Officer. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in December, 2009.
Upon returning from Afghanistan in April 2010, he rejoined 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment and began pre-deployment training. After serving briefly as the battery liaison officer, 1stLt Holland was appointed the Executive Officer of Alpha Battery. In April of 2011, 1stLt Holland Deployed to Musa Qala District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. As a Position Commander for a 3 Gun, 53 Marine firing position, 1stLt Holland supervised the safe, timely and accurate delivery of cannon fires in support of 5 maneuver units and 7 named operations.
In November 2011, 1stLt Holland re-deployed to Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he served as an Assistant Operations Officer. He was promoted to Captain in January of 2012. In June of 2012, Capt Holland executed orders to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Georgia, where he served as a Battalion Training Officer, Platoon Commander and Company Commander responsible for Nuclear Weapons Security within the Waterfront Restricted Area.
In July of 2014, Capt Holland was selected on a field accession board to transition to the MOS of Unmanned Aerial Systems Officer, and completed the USAF Remotely Piloted Aircraft training pipeline and RQ-7B Shadow Unmanned Aircraft Commander Course. Upon designation, Capt Holland received orders to report to Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 3 (VMU-3), Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in July of 2015.
During his time in VMU-3, Capt Holland served in the billets of Administration Officer-in-charge, Quality Assurance Officer and Aviation Maintenance Officer. In March of 2017, Capt Holland deployed to Mindanao, Philippines as Detachment Officer-in-charge with the mission of providing Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition in support of SOCPAC counter-terrorism operations. Capt Holland re-deployed in September of 2017 and was promoted to Major in November. After serving as the Assistant Operations Officer, Maj Holland was appointed Squadron Executive Officer.
In May of 2019, Maj Holland attended Command and Staff College aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA and was then selected to serve as Aide de Camp to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation within HQMC. After completing a successful Aide tour, Maj Holland led the service’s MQ-9 Transition Task Force from the Unmanned Aerial Systems branch within the Department of Aviation. After promoting to LtCol in March of 2023 and being selected to command Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron One (VMU-1), LtCol Holland completed the MQ-9A transition syllabus. He served as the commanding officer of VMU-1 and operated in the INDOPACOM Area of Responsibility from June 2024 to May 2026.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two stars in lieu of 3rd award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two stars in lieu of 3rd award.
