Sergeant Major Salgado is a native of Mexicali Baja California, Mexico. Sergeant Major Salgado moved to Mohave Valley, AZ in July of 1990 and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 10 January 2000. Sergeant Major Salgado attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion of his basic training, Sergeant Major Salgado attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton CA. Sergeant Major Salgado received the MOS of 3521 Motor Transport Mechanic upon graduating at Camp Johnson, North Carolina in July of 2000.
From October of 2000 to December 2003 Sergeant Major Salgado served at 1st MEF Headquarters Group (MHG) in Camp Pendleton, California where he held the billets of Motor Transport Quality Control NCO and Motor Transport Floor Chief. Sergeant Major was promoted to Lance Corporal in April of 2001. In January of 2003, Sergeant Major Salgado deployed in support of OIF for the initial invation or Iraq where he conducted convoy operations in support of forward units and combat outpost. Sergeant Major Salgado was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant November 2003.
From December 2003 to October 2007, Sergeant Major Salgado served at BSSG-1,1st FSSG/CLB-1 Camp Pendleton, California where he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant, M.T. Floor Chief, Quality Control, Tool Room NCO, and Publications NCO. Sergeant Major Salgado deployed to Iraq in support of OIF, at Camp Al-Taqadum where he conducted mounted resupply operations to forward units.
From October 2007 to April 2008 Sergeant Major Salgado served at CLB-5, 1st MLG Camp Pendleton, California where he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant and Motor Transport Maintenance Chief. Sergeant Major Salgado was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant January 2008.
From April 2008 to August 2011, Sergeant Major Salgado served at Drill Instructor (DI) School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon graduating DI School (Class 3-08), Sergeant Major reported to 2nd Battalion, Hotel Co. for Drill Instructor duty. Sergeant Major Salgado completed two fourth hat cycles, two Experience Drill Instructor Cycles, and two Senior Drill Instructor Cycles.
From August of 2011 to June 2014 Sergeant Major Salgado served at 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd MLG Camp Kinser, Okinawa Japan serving as the General Support Platoon's Maintenance Chief. Sergeant Major Salgado was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant September 2013. He then reported to 1st MAW, MAGS18 where he served at the Logistics Chief and Maintenance Chief.
From June of 2014 to July 2020, Sergeant Major Salgado served at Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Bn, Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California where he held the billet of Motor Transport Chief. Sergeant Major Salgado was FROCKED to the Rank of First Sergeant on 15 April 2017.
From April of 2017 to July 2020, Sergeant Major Salgado served at Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 23, Engineer Services Company in Springfield, Oregon where he served as the Inspector & Instructor (I&I) First Sergeant, Casualty Assistance Command Representative (CACR), and Toys for Tots representative.
From July of 2020 to February 2022, Sergeant Major Salgado served at CLB 2, Motor Transport Company in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he held the billets of Motor Transport and Headquaters & Support Company First Sergeant. During this time, Sergeant Major Salgado participated in Operation Allies Welcome in Quantico VA.
From February 2022 to July 2023 Sergeant Major Salgado served at Marine Air Group (MAG) 29, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 461 where he served as the Squadron Sergeant Major. While HMH-461, Sergeant Major Salgado conducted two cross country trips and participated in the Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course as the CSEL while the unit fielded the new CH-53K "King Stallion."
From July 2023 to February 2026 Sergeant Major Salgado sered at 2d ANGLICO, II MIG where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. While at 2d ANGLICO, Sergeant Major Salgado deployed to Norway in support of Joint Viking 25. SgtMaj Salgado served with allies from UK, Norway, French, Finland and Netherlands during his time at 2d ANGLICO.
Sergeant Major Salgado's personal awards include a Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star in lieu of 2nd award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu on 4th award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award.
